10 Anime Based On Video Games You Need To See
2. Castlevania
You probably predicted that this one would be here, as Netflix's Castlevania series has become one of the prime examples of a video game adaptation done right.
There's no arguing against that, as it's an excellent series with great visuals, a solid connection to the games and immense popularity. While it might not "technically" be anime thanks to its western development, it still deserves a place here thanks to its sheer quality.
Castlevania's first seasons adapt the third game in the series, Dracula's Curse. It follows monster hunter Trevor Belmont, son of Dracula Alucard and sorceress Sypha Belandes as they defend the land of Wallachia from the dreaded vampire Dracula. It's pulse-pounding, full of beautiful gothic imagery and does the classic Konami series proud.
Part of what makes Castlevania such a great adaptation is that it takes the best story elements of the games and pushes them together. It adapts the title it's based on while still introducing elements from later games, turning it into a well-developed piece full of lore, love and passion.
It's a pick and mix of great Castlevania characters, themes and visual style. So, you need to get it on the watchlist if you love the games or vampires in general.
