10 Annoying Side-Kicks Who Almost Spoiled Great Games

6. Daxter - Jak & Daxter Series

Introduced precisely to give balance to strong silent type Jak, Daxter was unfortunately a step too far to fill in for the hero's missing voice, as the furry little devil would never keep his trap shut. It wasn't so much that he wasn't helpful - because he had his moments - it was more that whoever created and scripted the character had very different ideas about what was funny. Daxter has the worst kind of "moxy" - inflated by a misguided sense of arrogance, cracking jokes with no effect, and worst of all, offering very little in the sense of real help to Jak. While Clank offered a massive armoury of gadgets to Jak to help him equip some stunningly entertaining weapons, and even the more annoying side-kicks on this list helped out with at least some useful information, Daxter was there for empty comic effect, and it just plain didn't work.

Daxter was a walking ball of snark, like a far more annoying Timon, wise-cracking his way through the game without any opportunity to wring his neck. A fairly massive over-sight, in my humble opinion.
