5. Claptrap - Borderlands 2
The perfect example of a brilliant game unnecessarily introducing a teeth-grindingly annoying companion who takes his role as in-game tutorial helper and general guide to the very limit of its welcome, thanks to a hugely irritating voice, and a tendency to wander into danger. Borderlands 2 is an astonishingly good game - about as entertaining as games have been this year - and with enough content to keep you playing for a long time. Unfortunately, that extended play means extended exposure to Claptrap's incessant, moronic wise-cracking, and though it's obvious Borderlands 2 is designed to be a comedy, and its characters are zany as possible, there is something remarkably annoying about the little robot who could be Wall-E's idiot cousin. Tiny Tina could well have also made this list, but the sheer amount of time you have to spend with Claptrap propels him to the top of the most annoying Borderlands character list.
