9. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge
For decades, Genesis owners were praying for a brand-new Streets of Rage game. So, when Dotemu released SOR4, fans were over the moon. Not only did the game scratch that nostalgic itch, it was an excellent beat-em-up in its own right. Streets of Rage 4 did so well, it would've been easy for the developers to hurry out another sequel.
Instead, they did something no one was expecting but everyone was hoping for. You see, Streets of Rage's beat-em-up mechanics and style were the foundation of the 1991 side-scroller, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles In Time - one of the best arcade games ever. Despite the fact this TMNT game is directly responsible for guzzling a million coins at the arcades, it never had a sequel... until now.
In 2021, Dotemu released a trailer for TMNT: Shredder's Revenge, which serves as a direct follow-up to Turtles In Time. Not only can you take control of the titular reptiles, the player can bash Shredder's minions as Channel 6 news reporter, April O' Neill, for the first time.
Considering fans have been waiting for this game for 31 years, Shredder's Revenge cannot come soon enough.
