10 Arcade Video Games To Make You Feel Like A Kid Again
1. Daytona USA
"DAYTONNNNAAA!"
This sound is arguably one of the greatest ever in the arcades. Hell, apart from the laugh of your first born child, it's arguably the greatest sound in life itself. It makes you smile from ear to ear whenever you hear it, acting like a drug as it plunges a dose of serotonin into your brain. It's a wonderful thing indeed.
Daytona USA was Sega's go-to arcade racer, a worthy challenger to the racing crown that Namco had held onto so selfishly with the equally splendid Ridge Racer. Both were great, but Daytona just about edged it. The game looked stunning at the time, with 3D graphics that jumped off the screen and ploughed into your eyeballs like a terrifying head-on collision. The racing was stupendously fun too, as you drifted and collided across large tracks against seemingly hundreds of other stock cars.
Daytona USA was frankly one of the finest arcade experiences going. You couldn't wish from anything more from your weekly trip to the amusements, as you plunged more and more coins into the machine so you could have just one more race. Your dad probably hated it though, as these sessions selfishly ate through his Saturday beer money. Sorry about that, dad.
