10 Arcade Video Games To Make You Feel Like A Kid Again

9. Toki

Even by video game standards, Toki was next-level bonkers. You played as a human turned ape, who had to rescue his girlfriend from the clutches of an evil witch-doctor. But you're also an ape that can shoot projectiles, breath fire and, um, wear American football helmets.

Why? No idea, except that it's video game logic and you just have to ride the crazy pixelated wave all the way to the end.

Despite the madness, Toki was a solid platformer and a staple in many arcade halls in the early nineties. The fun visuals, wacky creature designs and simple, but effective, gameplay made it an easy game to be drawn to as a kid.

Toki didn't have the longevity, or even the subtleties, of other platform titles at the time but it had enough visual charm to make it all work. It serves as a worthy reminder of how enjoyable, and how crazy, platform arcade games were back in the day.

Back in the day where you were an ape wearing an American football helmet and breathed fire onto zombie apes. Ah, the good old days.
