10 Arcade Video Games To Make You Feel Like A Kid Again

8. Street Fighter II

A list of the best ever childhood arcade titles wouldn't be complete without the undisputed king of fighters. No, not the actual King of Fighters, but Street Fighter II. Capcom's now legendary one-on-one fighter redefined and rebuilt the genre back in the nineties, and it's been an ever-present sight in arcades across the world ever since.

Featuring a cast of the best designed characters to ever appear in gaming, with individual move sets that may never be surpassed in a fighter, Street Fighter II was an instant two-player arcade classic.

Not just playing it either, but also watching it. With no eSports or Twitch back then, arcades were the only public forum where you could see other folk play games. And it was never as good as watching friendships publicly disintegrate whilst playing SFII.

Accusations of random button-mashing would be slung hurtfully at each other. Eventually one player would master one move and proceed to use it endlessly, prompting an angry howl from the other player of: "STOP DOING THAT SAME MOVE!" before they'd rage-quit and storm off to buy a Slush Puppy.

Who needed TV when you had this kind of incredible entertainment going on?
