10 Awesome 2021 Video Games You Missed (So Far)

2. Genesis Noir

Knockout city
Feral Cat Den

You won't find a more visually striking video game than Genesis Noir this year. Developers Feral Cat Den have crafted the gaming equivalent of free-form jazz with this esoteric adventure title.

Melding the unlikely genres of detective noir and cosmic-level sci-fi, Genesis Noir is probably best described as an abstract point-and-click adventure game, in which players investigate both an attempted murder and the creation of the universe. Yup.

Though there's not much to the gameplay mechanically, the lack of hand-holding means players are largely left to figure out the solutions to puzzles themselves, by interacting with every gorgeously-rendered component of the lovingly crafted environments.

This may result in occasional frustration, but given the utterly mesmerising visuals on offer - accompanied by first-rate music and sound design, too - it's a world you likely won't tire of living in for a few hours.
