10 Awesome Apocalyptic Video Games

1. Fallout (series)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iYZpR51XgW0 Though the Fallout series has evolved considerably over time, its themes and its style has remained staggeringly consistent, depicting the travails of characters trying to exist within the confines of a dilapidated world ravaged by a war and nuclear apocalypse. In Fallout 3, this desolation is most fully realised, taking place in 2277, 200 years after the last bomb dropped, whereby the land is even more desolate than in the immediate aftermath, and the remaining survivors have largely become even more profane and bestial, except for those who, like our protagonist, have been living underground in The Vault. What makes this such a fantastic game is its RPG-like injection, awarding us stats for how we conduct ourselves around the world, as well as measuring how good or evil we are through the various missions, giving us plenty of freedom to act as a merciless warlord of a sensitive soul, resulting in a number of different endings. What this game does best is give us the notion of choice, and given how ridiculously diverse and expansive this world is, it's safe to say that it is the apocalypse to invest yourself in if there ever was one.
