5. Sapphire Weapon - Final Fantasy VII

The seminal J-RPG, Final Fantasy VII, is one of the most densely packed games in history. It's filled to the brim with secrets, hidden objectives and creatures to find. It wouldn't even be all that surprising if there were still a few secrets we didn't know about. One of the things that players spent hours upon hours doing in the fall of 1997 was searching for the secrets of the Weapons. They were towering behemoths whom the player could find and fight. Most of them were optional, including the terrifying Ruby and Emerald Weapon. Others, such as Diamond Weapon, were mandatory. But there exists another Weapon, known as Sapphire. He's a fearsome looking beast, and seems to hold a massive amount of power and destruction. Much like the Emerald Weapon, he seemed like he would have been an enormously fun challenge to take on. So, how hard is he? It's impossible to know, as he's dispatched in a cut-scene by Shinra and Rufus when he attacks the city of Junon. After getting his head blown off by a Mako cannon, it's fairly obvious that we'll never get to test our mettle against this frightening monster. And that's a shame.
