10 Awesome Cancelled Video Games From Famous Franchises

1. Tom Clancy's Rainbow 6: Patriots

Rainbow Six: Siege is a fantastic online shooter, but for longstanding fans of the Tom Clancy series, it just doesn't feel like enough of a, well, Tom Clancy game. With no single-player campaign and a focus on tight, no-respawn online combat, Siege is far more 'Counter-Strike' than 'Rainbow Six'.

Before Siege, Ubisoft were working on a more conventional Rainbow Six game. Patriots was to pit players against a populist terrorist group called the 'True Patriots', who were rising up against big banks and plutocracy in the US (which seems kinda reasonable, no?).

The early footage of the game showed an impressive set-piece shootout on the streets of New York, with player control switching between several different characters. It looked like a natural successor to the popular Rainbow Six: Vegas 2, which was great news for fans. In the end though, Ubisoft decided to focus on Siege and The Division, both of which are so far proving reasonably successful, so who are we to criticise?

Incidentally, The Division's plot, involving a money-based virus that's wiped out the population, seems to take some cues from Patriots' anti-capitalist antagonists.

Which of these games would you most like to have seen brought to life? Let us know in the comments!
