10 Awesome Cancelled Video Games From Famous Franchises

2. Batman: Gotham By Gaslight

These days, Batman in video games is all Arkham this and Gotham that, as we swoop around a modern-day-ish and undeniably brilliant envisioning of Gotham in Warner Bros' games, smashing our way through a roster of familiar villains from the canon.

Not that I'm complaining, but when I hear that in the late 2000s there was a Batman game set in Victorian times in the works, where your ultimate goal was to track down Jack the Ripper, the current Arkham games just look a bit, well, 'conventional' by comparison.

Gotham by Gaslight was based on the comic book of the same name, taking place in 19th century Gotham and infused with a Steampunk aesthetic - all clockwork gadgets, strange monoculars, and lots and lots of brassiness.

It was being worked on by Day 1 Studios, and was pitched to THQ just before the publisher went bankrupt, so all that's left of it is this tantalising footage below.
