The goblin wars are a hidden mechanic in The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion that allows the player to set up conflicts between different goblin tribes in the region. Watching them fight each other to death is a ton of fun, which is why it's a shame the game never really explains how the wars work.

The region of Cyrodiil is home to seven major goblin tribes. At the start of the game, four of them are already at war with each other, but if you feel like the number could be bigger, you can always bring other tribes into the fight as well.

In order to start a goblin war, you need to steal a totem staff from the lair of your goblin tribe of choice and then place it inside a cave belonging to another tribe. This will trigger an all-out war between them, which will cause the tribes to send out raid parties to each other's caves.

If this is still not enough fun for you, placing a totem anywhere in the world will cause the goblin to send a search party after it, which will attack and kill anything in its path.

Nothing beats a good goblin war.
