The mere utterance of the word "Ravenholm" is enough to send a shiver up the spine of just about any Half-Life fan, because the sixth mission in Half-Life 2 is easily one of the most pant-wettingly scary in not just this series, but pretty much any game of the last decade. Ravenholm is a ghost town which has become infested with Zombies, and as if that wasn't bad enough, this mission introduces quite possibly the two most annoying (not to mention scary) enemies in the entire series: the Poison Headcrab (who will leap at the player and immediately drop their health down to 1% temporarily), and the Fast Headcrab (which is pretty self-explanatory). Despite the town's crazy soul survivor, Father Grigori, expending ammo like his life depends on it (and it does), Gordon's own stash is pretty scant, so you're encouraged to get to grips with the Gravity Gun for defensive purposes. Still, as brilliantly horrifying as the level is, everyone's glad when they finally make their way through it, and on the plus side for the haters, it's a relatively short (but extremely potent and intense) section of the game.
