Easily one of the most thrilling and action-packed sequences in the entire Half-Life series, Nova Prospekt is also one of the most difficult sections, even for veterans of the franchise. As Gordon raids the Combine prison camp, he's forced to contend with a ridiculous number of annoying automatic turrets, Antlion Guards, trip mines, Manhacks, a gas leak, and of course, relentless Combine soldiers. There are so many dangers at every corner in this part of the game that it's unsurprisingly the segment where most people encounter difficulty, and die. A lot. Things continue to stay tough during the second part of the Nova Prospekt battle in the next chapter, as Gordon must set up turrets and barricades to protect himself and Alyx. Survive several hordes of Combine attacks and you're finally through the hardest and most rewarding section of Half-Life 2. Many unsurprisingly hate replaying through this section, but it's some of the most gratifyingly intense, visceral FPS action you can find anywhere.
