10 Awesome Moments That Defined The Nintendo GameCube

9. Legend Of Zelda: The Wind Waker - The Ghost Ship

The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker had so many memorable moments – which is why many players (myself included) consider it to be the best entry in the whole series – but there was one in particular that stood out, defining many people’s experiences with the consoles: the Ghost Ship. The ship was a mysterious vessel, looming in the distance, disappearing whenever the player approaches, and reappearing again sporadically.

When it does appear, the clouds form a perfect storm, but no rain falls. Instead, a thick fog covers the oceans, preventing the player from getting an adequate glimpse of the ship, which quickly evaporates. Throughout the game, the ship is an unknown agent, existing regardless of the player, searching, roaming of its own volition. When approached, a faint song can be heard echoing across the sea – the only song not featured on the official soundtrack for the game.

The true meaning of the ship was never uncovered, which helped to cement its status as a genuine mystery.
