10 Awesome Old-School Video Games That Deserve HD Remakes
2. Final Fantasy VI
With all the attention on the Final Fantasy X/X-2 remasters and the long-awaited Final Fantasy VII HD remake to follow, it's easy to forget that the Final Fantasy series are full of quality titles that also deserve some attention. Except for Final Fantasy XIII and it's many sub-par sequels. Of all the Final Fantasy games that deserve a second look, it has to be Final Fantasy VI. Imagine what modern technology can do in reinterpreting that game's enormous game world and steam-punk aesthetic from a 2D RPG to a HD near open-world environment whilst having every moment set to an orchestral rendering of the game's stellar soundtrack. Most importantly, Final Fantasy VI's characters are almost tailored to today's dark, tortured hero-driven narratives. Introducing an amnesiac and magic-wielding Terra to the HD world would immediately distinguish her from the Bayonetta's and Lara Crofts of the gaming world whilst the rest of the game's well-developed playable characters, like Locke and Celes, can have their moments to really shine. The game's rich magic and industrial steam-punk influenced story would be a breath of fresh air to the gaming landscape, not to mention how awesome it would be to see Kefka in all his crazy HD glory. Please Square Enix, give everyone a HD-remake of Final Fantasy VI so the taste of that awful android/iOS port can be wiped clean.
My life story is nothing special. I haven't cured ebola, I'm nowhere near stopping terrorism, and I'm still working on that climate change problem.
Instead, all I've done so far is put a few hundred words together in an attempt to make people laugh.
