10 Awesome Old-School Video Games That Deserve HD Remakes

1. Chrono Trigger

Ask a gamer to name popular game from the 90s and most of the time the answer will be Zelda, Mario, and Final Fantasy. What sometimes slips under the radar is a game which arguably equals, if not trumps, all three game franchises: Chrono Trigger. The brain-child of a 'Dream Team' which included the creator of the Final Fantasy series, the creator of the Dragon Quest series, and the creator of Dragon Ball, Chrono Trigger is a revolutionary game that still holds up 20 years later. When the game was re-released to great sales over the years for the PS1 and Nintendo DS, it was a testament to Chrono Trigger's everlasting quality and longevity, making it the perfect candidate for a potential remake. With every aspect of the game perfect for a remake, there really is no argument as to why it shouldn't happen. The game universe is rich and expansive; a silent yet cool protagonist; a large cast of quirky NPC's; playable characters each with their own deep, and sometimes tragic, backstories; a well-realised time travel element; an absolutely fantastic soundtrack; a memorable world-conquering villain; and a well-written high-stakes narrative that can be altered by the player's decisions. If a HD remake is sadly not on the cards, then a sequel to Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross will also suffice, Square Enix. What classic games would you like to see given a HD remake? My life story is nothing special. I haven't cured ebola, I'm nowhere near stopping terrorism, and I'm still working on that climate change problem. Instead, all I've done so far is put a few hundred words together in an attempt to make people laugh. You can follow me at @Fry_ying_pan but don't be offended if I don't tweet back. It's usually because I've spent too long trying to think up a witty response that the reply window has closed.
