10 Awesome Sega Mega Drive Games You've Never Played

6. Master Of Monsters

In 1991, developers SystemSoft asked gamers to put down their fancy platformers, brawlers and shoot 'em ups in order to roll the dice on this board game-esque puzzler. For those that took up this fantastical call to arms, the aim was simple: choose your terrain, decide on your leader class and then enter the arena of turn-based war. With each turn players were required to summon an array of monsters and move them around the board, capturing towers and gaining ground along the way. With an opposing master doing the same on the other side of the map, there was a real sense of urgency to whip out as many dragons, trolls, chimeras and lizards as possible before you were vanquished. Everything about Master Of Monsters is gleefully tactical and both StarCraft and Pokémon fans will see some familiarity in the game's use of alternative race classes and head to head monster battles, respectively. A true classic.
