10 Awesome Things Sleeping Dogs Does Better Than GTA V

6. Presents A Real Challenge

GTA V wasn't "easy" by any stretch of the imagination, but it wasn't exactly a challenge either. Trevor's special ability, for example, was a sort of get-out clause if you were near to death, being able to dole out double the punishment and receive minimal damage, Franklin's special was fun but it made car chases way too easy and Michael's special, well, to be fair Michael's special wasn't that great, but more on that later. The ability to switch characters was an innovative and welcome feature, but you have to admit that it made heated missions much easier when you could just switch to a character with more health when your character was about to clock out. Sleeping Dogs tested the player's feel of the mechanics as it got closer to the end, many a time you would find yourself swamped with enemies of varying attack patterns with different strengths and weaknesses, forcing the player to be creative with their tactics. The fact that Sleeping Dogs primarily focuses on hand-to-hand combat means that killing your foes in an enclosed space isn't as simple as just gunning them down. GTA V struck a good balance in that it was fun and kept the player aware, but it wasn't actually that challenging a game.
