10 Awesome Things Sleeping Dogs Does Better Than GTA V
5. A Likeable Protagonist
It's hard to really warm to any of GTA V's three protagonists, with the possible exception of Franklin. Trevor is a stone-cold psycho who is absolutely terrifying, and Michael is a selfish sociopath who can't control his personal or private life. Franklin may be the most "normal" out of the three, but he still has no hesitations towards murder and robbery in the name of financial gain, all three of these characters are motivated by money, that's all they care about, and whilst I'm sure we all agree that money is a nice thing, it can make them seem a tad one-dimensional at some points. Wei Shen is a different story, he's the kind of guy that you can really root for, the main reason being that he's a cop; one of the good guys. But there's more to him than that, he is willing to give up his livelihood to bring down organised crime in Hong Kong, almost costing him his sanity. He can take care of himself in a fight, is cool, calm, collected and respects the people around him. There's very little reason to hate him, he can seem somewhat cocky at times but that kind of humour adds a layer of humanity to him. Think of him as a Hong Kong Police Department version of Spider-Man.
