10 Awesome Video Games That Came From Terrible Movies

1. X-Men Origins Wolverine: The Game

Thankfully we've got some nice hearty swigs of Days of Future Past and The Wolverine brew to wash away the sour taste of Logan's first solo outing, as between the butchering of Deadpool and just the idea of Gambit being on screen, there's nothing worth recommending in the movie version of Origins whatsoever. In-game though, Wolverine's talents as the adamantium-covered super-badass come to the front, opening with you plummeting out the sky to eviscerate an opponent miles below, only to then embark on a God of War-style slash-fest, complete with gory finishers and even a helicopter takedown. One of the neatest aesthetic things that's yet to appear anywhere else (so far anyway) was Wolverine's health actually being represented by his body taking visible damage. Skin and muscle tissue would be blown away by explosions and gunfire, but if you waited around long enough it would slowly all grow back convincingly - just like we've envisioned from the comics or watching the movie for years. Sure that's a tiny little detail overall, but it's emblematic of the general love, care and attention that helped shape the entire experience - something throwing in a host of traditional costumes got across in spades through subsequent replays. Which other games did you actually really love despite their initial films being pretty terrible? Let us know in the comments!
