10 Awesome Video Games That Came From Terrible Movies
10. The Punisher
Sure the movie is a bit of a cult success thanks to how many people can't get enough of Frank 'The Punisher' Castle's penchant for gory execution-based justice, making for recouped lost sales and tattered in-cinema reputation in DVD sales, but it's 2004's tie-in game that's a drastically different beast than its movie counterpart. Although both of them star Thomas Jane, his performance in the game is one of the better things in an otherwise fairly slow movie, one that culminates in a one-man-versus-the-mob finale that essentially acts as the launch-point for the character, rather having it take place at the midpoint of the film and going from there. In THQ's game Castle has been dishing out his brand of ultra-violent brutality for years, with his trademark black humour most definitely intact - leading to brilliant moments like feeding a perp through a wood-chipper, only for Frank to state that he "Wasn't much of a man, but he makes good mulch". Throw in a bevy of interrogations throughout that gave way to a few optional paths through levels and a supremely weighty combat system, all tied together by Jane's fantastic voice performance, and this is easily one of the most underrated Marvel properties of all time.
