10 Awesome Video Games That Came From Terrible Movies
8. Wanted: Weapons Of Fate
Sure it ripped off Gears of War's 'stop n' pop' cover mechanics, but there was one thing that elevated the Wanted movie tie-in far above its movie counterpart - bending bullets around walls and over enemy cover to tag some headshots every five minutes. As the whole bullet-bending thing isn't done a huge amount in the movie, the general premise is - according to your training as an uber-assassin anyway - if you whip your hand fast enough when firing a gun you can alter the trajectory considerably, something the Wanted game took on as a signature mechanic to great effect. Playing as a reasonably well-modelled James McAvoy (who for some reason didn't do the voice) it was a fairly short experience, but the core shooting mechanics were supremely fun, going as far as letting you arc even a cluster of shotgun pellets in slow-motion if you could line up the reticule well enough.
