10 Awesome Video Games That Should NEVER Get A Movie

1. BioShock

Red Dead Redemption - John Marston
2K Games

BioShock's intense lore about Rapture being built could make for a fantastic movie, but unfortunately, one of BioShock's greatest parts simply couldn't translate to film.

The reveal that the player is essentially Atlas' puppet is an incredible moment, not just because it's a revelation to the story, but because it brings in a whole new level of depth to the meaning behind the story.

The concept of doing what you are told, with no questions asked, while under the impression it's your own choice, is something only a video game could properly realize, and BioShock does so brilliantly. While a movie can tackle a subject like that, it would struggle to connect to the audience unless they were directly interacting with it; doing exactly what the pseudo-narrative says they're doing. Otherwise, the big twist only affects the characters on screen, and doesn't make the audience stop and think that perhaps their objectives were just instructions after all.

Despite having an incredible story, atmosphere and cast of characters, no movie could ever capture the real meaning behind BioShock's existence in a way the critically acclaimed game does.
