10 Awful Changes That Ruined Potentially Awesome Games

2. Bomberman: Act Zero (XBox 360) - Why So Serious?

Okay, so Spore was too cutesy. Well, Bomberman: Act Zero is the antithesis, and what's worse is this had a precedent of success and awesomeness. How far in design can you change something before it's not even recognisable? This is Bomberman, one of the most beloved game franchises in the history of gaming. Hudson Soft's gift to the world. This is what it looks like when you let morons make decisions. Bomberman cannot be serious! It just doesn't work. It's colorful, it's fun, it's frantic multiplayer action for the young and old. No wonder this game was an XBox 360 exclusive; it panders to the Americanised Halo clone-loving crowd more than any game before or after. It's a mess of poorly researched, horribly assumed, culture-melting nothingness. Consumers aren't idiots; no one was impressed and sales reflected this. Stay the course with the Bomberman formula or retire it. No more changes.
