10 Awful Video Games That Almost Everybody Plays

7. Evolve

Turtle Rock

Developed by Turtle Rock Studios, Evolve is multiplayer focused FPS about monster hunting. It doesn’t have a campaign; it’s essentially just a handful of multiplayer modes thrown together with little in the way of narrative justification.

Each game, four players take on the role of hunters attempting to track down a monster; a fifth player controls the monster, who must escape the other players and feed on wildlife in order to evolve in size. After four, maybe five games, you will have experienced everything Evolve has to offer; the characters aren’t well defined, and the story is almost non-existent.

Unlike similar games, such as Left 4 Dead, the gameplay doesn’t vary enough to justify the lack of content. It may seem unpredictable at first, but you’ll quickly realise just how repetitive the game is after twelve or thirteen indistinct attempts to neutralize the same handful of monsters, again and again.

Yet, like many of the examples on this list, Evolve has sold incredibly well, and is still being played to this day by a dedicated legion of fans. I guess some people just have nothing better to do.
