Mortal Kombat 11 was another highly anticipated entry in the long revered fighting franchise, and luckily it delivered with an improved netcode, more though out combat and a solid story on top of it. The story was indeed good, but how it was told is a different beast altogether. While a cringe-worthy honorable mention definitely goes to MMC fighter Rhonda Rousey's performance as fan favorite, Sonya Blade, she seems like Nolan North compared to the simultaneously monotone and over-the-top DJ Dimitri Vegas voicing himself as a skin for Sub Zero. Why they felt the need to add his voice on top of the skin, when the skin would have been enough and the voice acting was fine as is, is anyone's guess. The likes of 50 Cent, The Duck Dynasty Cast, and Michael Biehn, have already proved that, choosing to cast someone as themselves or their most iconic character can be a marketing ploy at best, and an ill advised decision that ruins a great title at worst. Then again, Mortal Kombat was never the gold standard for video game voice acting, so we shouldn't be too surprised.
