10 Awkward Video Game Moments That Made You Feel Like A Total Creep

While there's been plenty of explicit and sexually suggestive moments on this list so far, the romance between Sonic the Hedgehog and the decidedly human Elise in the 2006 Xbox 360 game is creepy purely because it's so innocent.

The dialogue in the scenes between them is so stilted, the characters so unnatural and animation so awkward that every time they interact on screen you get the feeling that you're watching nightmarish fan-fiction brought to life.

While it shouldn't, the mixture of second-hand embarrassment, pure disbelief and confusion at all the questions this pairing raises about the state of inter-species romance in the Sonic universe only results in making you feel unintentionally creepy for playing the game in the first place.

Because at the end of the day Sonic is a hedgehog. A hedgehog who can speak and sprint sure, but even in 2016 we still aren't progressive enough as a society where a romance between a human and a blue, furry animal could ever, ever be okay.
