Although Metal Gear Solid is one of the most beloved video game franchises of all time, the way it portrays women has always come under a high level of scrutiny.

Whether it was the flimsy excuse as to why the only female companion in The Phantom Pain is wearing the least amount of clothes possible, or the way you could creepily kiss the posters of Japanese models in the second game, if I included every time the series made me feel like a a bit of a perv, it could probably make up a whole other list.

But the worst aspect of the series has to be the way the camera repeatedly lingers and focuses on certain parts of women during cut-scenes. When you first realise what's happening it's something you can role your eyes at and move on from, however after being subjected to constant close-ups of disembodied butts and boobs the whole thing starts to feel a bit uncomfortable.

Not only that but the franchise actively encourages you to be as voyeuristic as possible over its female characters.

Whether it's the way the game lets you take pictures of posed members of the Beauty and the Beast squad in MGS4 or the easter egg where Quiet bends over to show you everything in the latest sequel, the Metal Gear Solid franchise is an expert in making its players feel as pervy as possible.
