4. Defeating The Hind D (Metal Gear Solid)

For those of you who aren't aware, a Hind D is a Russian gunship stocked to the brim with missiles and bullets and - in this instance - a really rather-annoyed Liquid Snake; but Snake manages to single-handedly take him down. Coming about two-thirds into the game, this was a pretty difficult boss fight due to the fact that you had to stop to aim the stinger missile, which often resulted in getting shot. There was also a lot of switching back and forth between stinger and rations as Liquid pummels you with the Hind's superior firepower. Couple this with an annoying tendency to disappear and reappear right behind you, and destroying the Hind was no mean feat. But this is what makes it such a brilliant moment. Like the entirety of Dark Souls, a lot of the pleasure from finally defeating the Hind was that it was so difficult; but it doesn't hurt that it is followed by an awesome little cutscene as we see Snake with his back to us as the Hind disappears out of view followed by a huge explosion. Snake turns around and says, "That takes care of the cremation", and every gamer playing felt like they could take on the world.
