10 Baffling Oversights In Otherwise Great Video Games
8. Hitman: Absolution Ruins Its Own Disguise Sytem
One of the silliest, yet most iconic features in all of the Hitman games is the ability to disguise Agent 47 in the most ludicrous outfits and have him somehow get into almost anywhere undetected because of it. However, for obvious reasons, this perhaps wasn't the most realistic way to treat disguises in what's otherwise a very deep and intricate stealth game, so for the last iteration, Hitman: Absolution, the developers at IO Interactive decided to shake things up.
However, in doing so the developers almost entirely ripped out the entire charm the feature had in the first place. Instead of being able to slip into any disguise and call it a day, the costumes were now split into types, which meant that any other NPCs sharing the same outfit as you would become instantly suspicious if you aroused their attention, regardless of their proximity to you.
Although not a terrible change up, in reality this essentially made disguises entirely useless, but more importantly, completely eliminated the fun they posed to be in the first place. In other games you could murder a waiter and steal his clothes, slipping into any kitchen completely undetected, all with an air of dark humour about it. However if you tried the same thing in Absolution you'd be spotted instantly by 10 cooks standing on the other side of the level.
