10 Baffling Oversights In Otherwise Great Video Games

4. Dark Souls' Final Boss Is Impossible Without A Specific Ability

Dark Souls is a one of the hardest games ever made, everyone knows that by now, but what’s more important than the game's difficulty is that the title is always fair with its challenge, never resorting to cheap or frustrating tactics in order to beat you to the ground over and over again.

That is, until you get to the final boss anyway. Unlike the other enemies in the game, this final encounter requires you to specifically perform one ability - the counter - if you even want to stand a chance of coming out on top.

Unfortunately for you, although the ability would indeed make your life a bit easier during the course of the game, it’s never an essential tactic to defeat an enemy before then, which means players tend to adopt a completely different fighting style which they learn and perfect over the 80 hour campaign – which annoyingly has to be entirely unlearned for the game's final bout.
