10 Baffling Oversights In Otherwise Great Video Games

5. Wolfenstein: The New Order's Health System Ruins Firefights

One of the most interesting and enjoyable parts of the most recent Wolfenstein re-imagining was down to it’s reliance on old-school video game design. From the wide-open levels to the duel-wielding weapons, everything about the game worked as a call-back to older first person shooters, which paradoxically, made The New Order one of the most refreshing titles of last year.

However, not all of these older mechanics worked as well as they should have, and in fact, the way the game made you stop to pick up health and armour in the midst of combat completely went against the run-and-gun ethos of the whole experience.

This oversight is perhaps more disappointing because The New Order was an amazing franchise reboot, yet it would have felt so much more cohesive with the ability to stay on the move without having to search around the floor and under debris for hidden health kits and armour pieces every five seconds. Even something as simple as allowing players to store health packs would have done wonders to keep up the blistering pace of this otherwise pitch-perfect title.
