10 Beloved Video Game Mascots You Totally Forgot

4. Gex

Goemon character
Sony

You couldn't escape this wise-cracking gecko in the 1990s. Taking the majority of his character traits from his obsession with television, Gex spat out one-liners at such a rapid pace you'd be forgiven if you thought you were playing a video game rendition of a Jerry Seinfeld stand up routine.

The issue with this is that Gex's games were marketed towards children and when he would say something like "This is like an all-nighter at Richard Simmons house", you'd be hard-pressed to find a kid who would actually understand this.

Gex was, for a short time a mascot for the company Crystal Dynamics during his run. The character had surprisingly tight and fun games under his belt. The second title, Gex: Enter the Gecko was especially praised by critics. Sadly though he was another casualty of being a product of his time. The snarky comments, unfortunately, left him stuck in the past because there was just no room for the Gecko when it came to the 6th generation of consoles.
