10 Best Areas In Dark Souls: Remastered - Ranked
1. The Painted World Of Ariamis
There is no understating the achievement that is Dark Souls' world design. Having levels interwoven and connecting in such a way creates a true feeling of exploration. However, it does naturally limit the way in which levels can be designed. And you'll be hard-pressed to argue that secluded levels aren't more enjoyable as areas.
The Painted World Of Ariamis uses its seclusion to create one of the best stand-alone levels in the game. It is everything Dark Souls should be and is a joy to play. It's visually very striking and is also incredibly sandwiched together.
Whilst Dark Souls' has great world design, level design excels when separated and Ariamis proves just that. It would be amazing to have it connected physically to the main world, but as it is, it is the best example of an area the game has to offer.
Beautiful, fun, challenging and purely emblematic of the Dark Souls experience.
