10 Best Areas In Dark Souls
6. Ringed City - Dark Souls 3
Although it may be pushing it a little to call the whole of a DLC a single area, this final instalment tagged onto the end of the third Dark Souls game was universally very well received.
Featuring NPC encounters with Lapp and Shira, every inch that you walked on felt as though you truly had endured it all and reached the very end of the world, where the architecture and everything in it was slowly collapsing in on itself.
With the Ringed Knights and (pre-nerf) Angels providing very tough level enemies, there wasn't a single portion of the area that felt too easy or brutally difficult. The archers that were summoned by the Judicator, a second Dragonslayer Armour encounter and the two times you have to face off against Midir... there was no shortage of a fair challenge to be had.
As well as adding the Spears of the Church covenant, where a player could be summoned in place of Halflight, it also had boss fights with the Demon Princes and the final encounter with Gael that felt like a fitting end to the series as a whole.
Also, that final (optional) battle against Midir is often touted as the hardest challenge in Souls.
