10 Best Boss Fights In The Legend Of Zelda Franchise
6. Majora's Mask
Most Zelda games have a bit of the epic about them, but few capture this better than the final battle with the titular Majora’s Mask. After summoning four giants to halt the progress of the crashing moon, Link ascends into the lunar body for a final clash with the mysterious cursed facewear.
The battle progresses through three stages, and takes the game to some truly strange places. First the mask sprouts tentacles, then arms and legs, then a full, toned body. As the monster screeches and wails, it stomps around the arena, and even displays a few dance moves as the clash descends into madness.
This is a lengthy, tricky battle, and a fitting end to a game that can at times become something close to a hallucinatory experience. There are many ways to approach it, making use of the tools and weapons you’ve obtained over the course of the game.
Alternatively, if you’ve collected all the masks, you can transform into the Fierce Deity, meaning you can swat Majora’s Mask aside in a matter of seconds. In a way, that’s even more enjoyable.
