1. The Asylum Demon

Namco BandaiNamco BandaiFound in: Dark Souls, Your Worst Nightmares First times are a magical thing which should be cherished in all walks of life. The first time you ride a bike, the first time you fall in love, the first time a demon crushes you with his gigantic mace... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i_qusm-7Mfk Yes indeed, the Asylum Demon was a hell of a kick-off for players starting up their exciting and sinister adventure in Dark Souls. With only a few shreds of advice and a broken sword hilt, you open a pair of huge iron doors leading from the courtyard of the Undead Asylum into its inner chamber. At only a few minutes into the game, the chances are you weren't expecting a screen-filling beast to drop down from the heavens and mess up your life, so straight away this first encounter becomes incredibly memorable. And possibly traumatising. Luckily, Dark Souls isn't quite that cruel, and allows you to escape through a side passage with your pants intact. Eventually, you return with a shiny new weapon and a bit of knowledge on how the game is played. As an added bonus, you're even given a chance for sweet revenge as you emerge on a balcony above the Asylum Demon shortly after being told how to execute a deadly drop attack from above. Yes please, Dark Souls. Thank you Dark Souls! It's a perfect example of the firm but fair way that the series works. Though every challenge at first seems insurmountable and impossibly daunting, the players needs only to prepare themselves with the tools provided and learn the skills needed to overcome their foes. This was the boss fight that started millions of Undead on their journey through the gloomy and wonderful world of Dark Souls. What was your favourite boss in the Dark Souls series?
