Found in: Dark Souls 2 For most of Dark Souls 2, King Vendrick is assumed to be the final boss. After being told to seek out this mysterious monarch by the Emerald Herald upon arriving in the game's hub town of Majula, the player proceeds to beat down demons left and right on the path to obtain the souls necessary to be worthy of an audience with the King. Finally meeting the man himself is an altogether more harrowing experience than any of the giant dragons or slimy flesh monsters of the rest of the game though - this is because it turns out King Vendrick now resides deep in the Undead Crypt and wanders the echoing halls of his tomb as an undead. All of the hoops you jump through to reach Vendrick are set in place by the King himself to stop her from reaching that which she desires the most The Throne of Want. The King basically dedicated the tail-end of his life to stopping this horrendous demon and ensuring that only you, the Chosen Undead, will be able to find the throne and become the 'new monarch'. Vendrick is passive at first, but should you choose to take a sword to his ankles, you'll need several difficult to obtain Giant souls in order to stand a chance against this surprisingly robust Undead King.
