10 Best Dark Souls Bosses We Loved To Hate

3. Artorias The Abysswalker

game-insider.comNamcoBandaiFound in: Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition Artorias is undoubtedly one of the most badass characters of this generation of video games. If a movie was made about him, they would find a way to make Clint Eastwood young again just so he could do it justice. What makes him such a legendary figure, then? Well, for starters Artorias was one of Gwyn's Four Knights, who were effectively the A-Team of Lordran. He proved his fearlessness and prowess in battle during the fall of New Londo; an area now submerged and filled with ghosts. During the initial attack, Artorias made a covenant with the creatures of the abyss and destroyed them from the inside with his wolf Sif in tow. Later, when the township of Oolacile came under threat from Lord Manus, one of the biggest and baddest demons in the series, Artorias headed down into darkness once more and held back the corruption that threatened the land. Unfortunately, he wasn't successful this time around and the power of Manus overcame him - but not before he was able to save his wolf from the same terrible fate. The player fights Artorias as the proud knight finally succumbs to the dark corruption unleashed below, taking you on against his will. His boss arena is a large, Colosseum-like area and his attacks are ferocious, forcing the player to choose very carefully when to evade, when to block and when to heal. It's a fight that requires pitch-perfect reactions and ideally a partner to wipe your brow when the going gets really tough. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UfFOixQVYHU

A young man with a hairy face. Will often tell you that winter is coming before retreating to his mancave to play video games with a wooly jumper at the ready, just in case.
