1. Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3

Gameplay-wise, Tenkaichi 3 is similar to its predecessor - which should not be taken as a criticism because Tenkaichi 2 had excellent combat. While battles don't share the frantic pace of FighterZ, they still capture the big fight feel of the anime, too.

Where the game shines is in the Mission 100 mode, in this mode players have 100 fights against pre-set opponents, either using a certain number of fighters or creating a team using a limited amount of SP points. Mission 100 is a nice spin on the usual arcade modes presented in fighting games.

The reason why Mission 100 works so well is because of the sheer number of characters in Budokai Tenkaichi 3. Characters from Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball GT and the Dragon Ball movies all feature in this huge cast. Fans will be hard-pressed to find any characters in the Dragon Ball universe (before Dragon Ball Super) that are not in this game.

Dragon Ball FighterZ might be the better fighting game, Budokai 3 the better story mode, but Tenkaichi 3 is number one because of the countless dream fights that can be created.

Players can have Future Gohan face off against Super Saiyan Trunks, Bardock battle Goku or five different forms of Vegeta fight five different forms of Goku. Mixing dream fights with strong gameplay and presentation makes this the ultimate game for Dragon Ball Z fans.
