10 Best Dragon Ball Z Video Games - Ranked
9. Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi
This was the start of the very popular Budokai Tenkaichi series and it introduced elements that we still see in Dragon Ball Z games today.
The main thing this game brought to the series was an over-shoulder camera view, as before, most of the games in the franchise were displayed in 2D or 2.5D. A fully 3D camera fit Dragon Ball Z well, and it differentiated it from not only the prior games in the series but most other fighting games at the time.
A strong part of this game is the Z Battle Gate mode, which serves as the story mode of the game and it allows you to replay battles throughout the story of Dragon Ball Z. Even though Z Battle Gate was hardly revolutionary, the sheer amount of battles included in the mode is impressive. As fans can play pretty much any fight that occurred during any Dragon Ball Z saga.
What stops this game being higher on the list is that the gameplay isn't quick enough and it gets repetitive. Also, the brilliant Tenkaichi sequels overshadow this game.
