10 Best Dragon Ball Z Video Games - Ranked

8. Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit

Burst Limit served as the spiritual successor to the original Budokai games as it plays very similarly to the beloved series and it even brought Dragon Ball Z games back to 2.5D.

Where this game deserves huge credit is in its graphics. 11 years and a new generation of consoles have passed since this game was released yet the game's cell-shaded characters still look fantastic. Only the most recent Dragon Ball Z games look better than Burst Limit.

Burst Limit's story mode lets you play through most of the fights in the Dragon Ball Z story which is the standard affair expected from the series. Unfortunately, the story stops after the Cell saga, meaning no new characters from the Buu saga are featured in the game. A lack of characters is also an issue, especially as inexplicably players start the game with only 3 fighters unlocked, forcing them to play through the story to unlock them all.

Why this game still makes this list though is due to the gameplay, as it is fluid and still fun to play to this day. The short cutscenes ('drama pieces') that trigger during fights can be annoying, but they don't ruin the enjoyment of battles.
