10 Best Dungeons In The Legend Of Zelda Franchise
8. Sandship
Skyward Sword isn’t for everyone. Some elements, like the motion controlled combat and the occasionally repetitive boss fights, make this a low ranking title for some Zelda fans.
What it does have, though, is a robot pirate ship which requires Link to travel through time, duel with a mechanical skeleton, and conquer a sea monster. So it’s got that going for it.
Sandship is a wild Zelda temple in which they threw a whole pile of ideas at the wall to see what stuck. It turned out pretty great. Link has to flit between the past and present of the ship in order to return it to its rightful crew - it’s fairly complex stuff, but all adds to the wild fun of the level.
The mini-boss fight, LD-002G Servo (the robot skeleton), is reliant on a good grasp of the oft-buggy motion controls, but defeating it is undeniably satisfying, offering the player a real test of their swordsmanship.
The boss battle itself is a Zelda outlier (the squid-like baddy looks like something from Monsters, Inc), but it’s fitting for this particularly distinctive dungeon.
