10 Best Dungeons In The Legend Of Zelda Franchise

3. Forest Temple

Eagle's Tower Legend of Zelda

The first dungeon of Ocarina Of Time’s adult section is a real “things are getting real” moment. While the first three levels boast a talking tree, a scrap with a dinosaur, and a Jonah-esque voyage into a leviathan’s belly, the Forest Temple hits you with the spooky stuff; a ramshackle, haunted mansion deep in the lost woods.

It’s the perfect introduction to the second part of your adventure, teaching the player how to utilise their new arsenal - the hookshot, the bow and arrow - without any hand holding. The puzzle solving gives you a great sense of progression, as you encounter twisted corridors that you can later straighten out to move further.

The mini-boss fight against the Poe sisters is great fun, spread out across the temple, with a final showdown in the lobby granting access to the battle with Phantom Ganon.

The boss itself may be the finest in the game - Phantom Ganon gives you a preview of the Hyrule Castle battle against the man himself, allowing you to hone your sword parrying technique. He also jumps in and out of paintings on a horse, which is just cool.
