And that’s time, Jessica has inevitably mentioned Persona 5 Royal so you pack it up and go home, I mean, don’t actually do that I have to run you through the top three and, if necessary, tell you why you have to play Persona 5 Royal. Dad. My Dad won’t take my recommendation but I’m pretty sure if I can bully you guys into it he’ll have to follow suit.

There’s an argument to be made from a purist perspective that Persona 5 Royal isn’t the best Persona game in the same way that Elder Scrolls devotees might not put Skyrim at the peak of the series, but they’re both slam dunk entries in a series littered with greatness and, well, I like this one.

I know the childishness of that argument is wearing off but this is my last bias card I promise.

Persona 5 Royal is a slog in the most wonderful way. The game gives you over a hundred hours to fall in love with its delightful ever-evolving confidants, its story that skips from melodrama to humour to heartbreaking to heartwarmingly earnest, and its dense RPG mechanics and turn-based combat structure complete with your very own gruesome Pokedex of demons. Persona 5 is a game that did everything right and swept loads of awards and Persona 5 Royal is better in almost every way.

If somebody could go tell my Dad that though, that would be great.
