An experience that feels more like a shot of adrenaline than a typical horror game, Doom Eternal deserves its place on this list for a few reasons. Its themes are very much drenched in horror, as much as the walls are drenched in blood, and the idea of Demons from Hell invading Earth is about as horrific as it gets! As the Doom Slayer shoots and saws his way through the hordes of Hell’s invaders you have to feel a little bit for the invaders. They must be absolutely petrified, being ordered by their higher-ups to do battle against a one man army, a killing machine who won’t stop ripping and tearing until there’s nothing left to rip and tear! The Slayer has become the stuff of nightmares for the Demons.
Doom Eternal is just as good as its predecessor, even with the addition of some much criticized platforming sections. The continuation of the Slayer’s story is as shocking as it is interesting. No story spoilers here though don’t worry, you’re in good (and very bloody) hands.
