It's natural for indie games not to get as much exposure or love as the big hitters, but even within the indie scene Titan Souls has managed to be one of the 2015's underrated titles. This top-down adventure resembles Zelda in a few ways, as you explore an open world sectioned off into equally-sized single-screen squares, descending into the darkest dungeons, exploring treacherous forests, climbing the highest mountains... you get the idea. But what's unique about Titan Souls' gameplay is that it's entirely made up of big, tough boss encounters. Unfortunately, you don't have a correspondingly big arsenal of big weapons to take them down with, and rely entirely on firing your single trusty arrow at them. You need to make each shot count, because you need to pick up the arrow after each time you fire it - which will entail walking unarmed up to whatever yeti, man-eating plant, water-beast, or other titan you're fighting. The game is all about precision and well-timed dodges, because you die after just one hit. It's a tough, intimidating and gripping game that isn't entirely unlike a certain other gruelling fantasy game with 'Souls' in its name... Buy Titan Souls at GOG
