10 Best Keith David Voice Acting Performances In Video Games
9. Chaos - Dissidia Final Fantasy
Final Fantasy is a series which has arguably lost much of the luster it once commanded amongst the gaming fraternity. Once, the series could do no wrong - thanks mainly to Final Fantasy VII on the original Playstation console, millions became tuned into exactly what kind of pleasures Japanese-style RPG's could provide. Turn-based combat, suitably fantastical lands and interesting characters were the order of the day, but with the advent of such popular Western role playing games like Mass Effect, Dragon Age and Skyrim, the one-time standard bearer for role playing tactical action isn't quite the darling it once was. Regardless, the games still sell by the truckload when released, and Dissidia Final Fantasy, released exclusively for the PSP in late-2009, continued that success. Heralded as a true Final Fantasy game on the portable market, Dissidia also streamlined the tactical combat, offering newcomers to the Final Fantasy universe the opportunity to 'pick up and play', without having to trawl through extensive menus. Nonetheless, the ease of use for rookies would mean nothing if the same epic atmosphere from previous installments in the franchise weren't kept in place. Monsters and enemies still needed to have that old familiar foreboding, threatening and huge in scope, yet immensely satisfying once beaten. Taking on the mantle as Chaos, the final boss of the game, Keith David excels - as he often does - taunting the player with memorable lines such as, 'Little fool, you're shivering!'. Normally cast as strong, reliable authority figures, the character of Chaos is an interesting twist for David, but he knocks it out of the park.
